Actor profile
Career and selected work
Sanjeev Kohli is a Scottish actor, comedian and writer. Navid in Still Game is a central point of recognition, with further television roles including Surjit in Meet the Magoons and AJ Jandhu in River City. His film appearances include Filth and Stan & Ollie. Dinosaur provides another television starting point in a later comedy ensemble.
For Ryeland Companion readers, the variety of those credits helps separate a performer’s comic associations from the precise job a character does inside a mystery. A brief exchange may be funny and still provide information the viewer needs to remember. Comparing a continuing sitcom character with a smaller film appearance is therefore a useful exercise in attention. Notice what the scene establishes before a joke, and what remains true after it. The selected credits below identify productions and roles without implying that Kohli wrote every programme in which he appeared. His acting and writing are related parts of a career, but each credit needs its own attribution.

In the Susan Ryeland adaptations
Kohli plays Sajid Khan in Susan’s contemporary story and Dr Kamal in the first Magpie manuscript. Moonflower brings back Sajid; it should not be described as a return for both characters. Sajid belongs to Susan’s work and everyday life, while Dr Kamal belongs to Conway’s fictional village. That distinction matters when following the series in order: a recurring actor can return in one role without the earlier novel’s whole cast returning with him. Keep the modern relationship separate from the period doctor’s place in Pünd’s investigation.
