Ryeland Companion
Independent fan archive

Editorial independence and update log

How evidence, corrections, commercial links and site changes are handled.

Fan-first and independent

Ryeland Companion is an independent, unofficial fan archive. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by Anthony Horowitz, the BBC, PBS, Eleventh Hour Films, publishers, cast, crew, venues or programme rights holders.

Editorial before commercial

Research confidence, access cautions and visitor advice are never changed to favour a booking. Commercial accommodation searches appear only beside relevant location planning and remain secondary.

No invented identifiers

No affiliate programme identifier is installed unless the site owner supplies an approved ID. Current accommodation links are ordinary, affiliate-tracked through CJ and are labelled as such.

Verification promises

What the archive will not invent

  • Cast members, role pairings, episode credits or production departments.
  • Episode titles, BBC dates, scenes, quotations, solutions or book-to-screen changes.
  • Filming sites inferred from visual resemblance.
  • Opening hours, access rights, transport details or accommodation relationships.
  • Affiliate IDs, discounts, prices or programme membership.

Corrections

How changes are recorded

Every material correction should identify the page, disputed claim, supporting evidence and date applied. A public submission form is not shown until a monitored, spam-protected destination exists. Until then, the change log records corrections made during scheduled evidence checks and editorial reviews.

Scheduled maintenance

Active checks

  • Check Ryeland Companion Locations: weekly on Monday mornings, Europe/London; checks authoritative access, transport, venue and official-link changes.

Last reviewed

This policy and log were last reviewed 20 September 2026. Material future changes should add a dated entry rather than silently rewriting the record.

19 October 2026 — research update

Expanded official actor sources and stage, training and awards notes; added UK audiobook and edition records; checked selected Marble Hall recap facts against PBS transcripts; updated visitor information and corrected the Farmleigh walk for the 2026 house closure. Full credits, scene timecodes and other outstanding research remain in the project backlog.

Affiliate disclosure

Accommodation links to Booking.com use the CJ affiliate programme. If you book through them, Peter Taylor trading as Does Your Duck Quack? may receive a commission at no extra cost to you.

Waterstones and Audible links are currently ordinary retailer links without affiliate tracking. Commercial links do not determine editorial coverage, evidence ratings or visitor-access advice. Accommodation availability, prices and booking terms are set by the retailer.

Known limits

Community submissions, photo uploads, polls and newsletters are not offered: the site is run under Does Your Duck Quack? without a public contact and moderator. Updates appear on the dated news page rather than in a weekly issue.

We do not publish then-and-now screen photographs or cover galleries where image rights are not held. Complete credits, scene timecodes and other details without available primary sources remain accepted limits; existing partial guides are retained as they stand. The Ryeland Companion CJ property identifier is the only open historical backlog item.

Publication protocol

Broadcast and post-episode checklists

These are the required gates before an episode record changes from pre-broadcast to reviewed.

Broadcast day

  • Recheck BBC One time and iPlayer availability.
  • Capture the programme-page URL and check date.
  • Confirm the episode number; do not invent a title.
  • Keep all story outcomes hidden by default.

After each episode

  • Write a spoiler-free recap from the transmitted programme.
  • Place clues, outcomes and solutions inside television-spoiler controls.
  • Keep book-only comparisons in a separate control.
  • Record uncertainties instead of resolving them by inference.

Cast and credits

  • Reconcile performers and roles against BBC end credits.
  • Record writer, director and production credits.
  • Correct provisional dual-role pairings.
  • Add new credited performers to the actor directory.

Location verification

  • Compare visible architecture only as a lead, never as proof.
  • Seek production, venue or local-authority confirmation.
  • Attach exact scenes only when supported.
  • Preserve access and privacy warnings.

Post-finale audit

  • Review all six episode records and dates.
  • Reconcile complete cast and production credits.
  • Confirm or downgrade every location claim.
  • Review trailers, first-look notes and book comparisons.
  • Publish an audit date and corrections log entry.
