What was filmed here
Corfu gives Marble Hall Murders its Greek setting within Atticus Pünd’s new manuscript mystery. Corfu Old Town and the Campiello area feature in local reporting of the island shoot. Walk here for the narrow lanes, tall façades and changing glimpses of the sea that make the screen world distinctive. The route below is an Old Town orientation walk through the filming area, with stops chosen for an enjoyable walk. Agios Ioannis, Archontiko Petrettini and Danilia have separate guides because their access and travel arrangements differ from the public streets of town.
About the place
Corfu’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognised for its fortified-port character and the survival of its urban fabric. Venetian rule shaped the fortifications, while later French and British periods also left their mark. The town’s buildings are not all from one age: the mixture of older fabric and later neoclassical construction is part of its identity. Campiello rewards close attention to the small scale of street life—doorways, shutters, corners and sudden open spaces—while the Liston and the Esplanade offer a broader civic setting. The sea and fortresses help orient a visitor who has become pleasantly turned around in the lanes. Rather than rushing from landmark to landmark, use the contrast between enclosed streets and open waterfront as the structure of your walk. This is a living town with residents, churches, shops and deliveries, not a sealed historical quarter or a permanent television set.
Getting there
Corfu has no railway. Arrive by air or ferry, then use a city bus or taxi to the Old Town edge. Corfu City Bus publishes routes serving the airport, port and central areas; check the right stop and your luggage needs before boarding. San Rocco is a useful bus reference point, but it is not the same place as every waterfront or cruise-port stop. Drivers should follow town signs to lawful parking outside the tightest historic lanes and continue on foot. Do not aim to park beside a restaurant in Campiello without checking access first. Cruise arrivals and summer traffic can slow the final approach, so leave a generous margin if you have a booked meal or museum time.
A short self-guided walk
Allow 90 minutes to two hours for this suggested route, with extra time for meals, churches or museums. It is an orientation walk, not a measured step-free itinerary.
- Begin at the Esplanade near the Liston, using the open space to orient yourself between the town and the Old Fortress.
- Walk along the public streets towards Saint Spyridon’s Church. Give worshippers priority and treat the church as an active religious place.
- Continue into the Campiello lanes, choosing public passages rather than private courtyards. Notice how tall buildings and narrow corners alter the light.
- Pause around Kremasti Square and the Venetian well area. Keep restaurant tables and residential entrances clear while you take in the setting.
- Work back towards the northern waterfront for a more open view, using a map if the lanes become confusing.
- Return towards the Liston and Esplanade, finishing with a café or restaurant stop rather than trying to fit another distant island venue into the same walk.

Nearby
The Old Fortress and the Museum of Asian Art can extend a town visit, subject to their own opening and ticket arrangements. The Mon Repos area provides another excursion south of the centre. Danilia and Agios Ioannis are separate inland trips, commonly considered on the half-hour driving scale from town in favourable traffic, but summer congestion can change that considerably. Do not mistake a straight-line distance for a quick bus connection. If you want only one day of Marble Hall atmosphere, an unhurried Old Town walk is a better choice than racing to several properties with uncertain access.
Best time to visit and accessibility
Early morning and late afternoon are useful for avoiding the strongest summer heat and the busiest groups. Spring and autumn can be comfortable, while winter brings a different rhythm and reduced seasonal services. Campiello has uneven paving, steps and narrow lanes; the broader Esplanade is a useful easier alternative but does not make the whole town step-free. Wear shoes with grip, carry water and check a restaurant’s entrance if accessibility matters. In wet weather, polished stone can become slippery.
Visiting respectfully
Keep passages and doors clear, and ask before photographing people or private courtyards. Follow church rules and avoid blocking working shops for a screen comparison.
Frequently asked questions
Was Marble Hall Murders filmed in Corfu?
Yes. Corfu is one of the production’s filming regions, with Old Town and Campiello reported among the island locations.
Can I explore the Old Town freely?
Public streets can be explored independently. Museums, churches and private interiors have their own rules and hours.
Is Campiello suitable for a wheelchair?
Some routes are challenging because of steps, narrow passages and uneven paving. Plan an individual route and consider the broader Esplanade for an easier outing.
Can I visit Danilia on the same walk?
No. Danilia is outside the Old Town and requires a separate journey and access check.

Finding a car park
The municipality’s Corfu Town parking directory identifies the municipal Kato Platia–Spianada car park and several private options. Check the chosen operator’s present rates and signs; the directory also contains dated temporary schemes that should not be treated as current offers. Park outside restricted lanes and continue on foot using permitted public routes.
Plan two days
Give the first day to Corfu Old Town and Campiello. Begin around the Esplanade and Liston, then follow a comfortable section of the Corfu walk into the public lanes. Leave time for a café pause and choose any museum or fortress visit separately, checking its own arrangements. Church doors, private courtyards and restaurant tables are not extensions of the public walking route. A shorter circuit still gives a strong sense of the town’s changing spaces.
For day two, arrange Danilia first. Its managed programme needs a confirmed visit, so let that booking determine the day’s order. Check Grecotel’s current information and the transport included in your reservation; checked 19 October 2026. Add Agios Ioannis before or afterwards only when the journeys fit comfortably. The two inland stops require separate transport from the town walk.
Agios Ioannis works as a public village visit centred on its square. Include Archontiko Petrettini only with a booking or explicit permission; otherwise enjoy the village and move on. Keep water with you and decide your return before setting off. If Danilia cannot accommodate you, spend more time in the Old Town or choose a public attraction, rather than travelling to a closed venue.
Search Corfu Town stays for easy access to the first day’s walk and meals. For a wider island holiday, compare Corfu villas, checking the exact address and transport needs carefully. A rural base can mean arranging every evening journey, while a central room may involve carrying luggage through narrow lanes. Choose the practical fit before the prettiest photograph.
