Actor profile
Career and selected work
Thomas Coombes is a British actor with screen credits across crime drama, contemporary film and television. Goz in Save Me and Officer Daniels in Baby Reindeer are recognisable television roles. His selected work also includes Hatton Garden, Small Axe and Boiling Point. These titles offer several routes into his performances without assuming that the character in one programme explains a character in another.
For Moonflower viewers, Save Me is a useful comparison in terms of an ensemble built around a search for someone, although the story, setting and style are different. Boiling Point provides another kind of concentrated dramatic situation. When comparing performances, consider how much a character can reveal in a short exchange and how another person’s response changes its meaning. Coombes also works on stage, so the screen list below is selective. It is designed to help identify an appearance and choose a starting production, rather than to measure the importance of a role by the fame of the title.
Six roles to explore
- Save Me (2018–2020) — Goz.
- Hatton Garden (2019) — Gary Stevenson.
- Small Axe (2020) — PC Royce.
- Boiling Point (2021) — Mr Lovejoy.
- Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023) — Archie.
- Baby Reindeer (2024) — Officer Daniels.
In the Susan Ryeland adaptations
Coombes plays Derek Endicott in Moonflower’s contemporary strand and Eric Chandler inside Alan Conway’s novel. Derek’s family connection to Stefan’s story places him among the people Susan needs to understand. Eric belongs to the separate household and investigation in the book. The similar-sounding names make the doubling noticeable, but it is still worth recording them separately. On a rewatch, compare the practical responsibilities and relationships around each man. A shared performer makes an echo visible; it does not give either character access to the other story’s events or evidence.
