Actor profile
Career and selected work
Amelia Bullmore works as an actor, screenwriter and playwright. Her television career offers several very different points of recognition: Sonja in I’m Alan Partridge, Kay Hope in Twenty Twelve, and senior detective Gill Murray in Scott & Bailey. The movement between comedy and crime drama is particularly relevant to a series such as Marble Hall Murders, where a witty conversation can sit close to a serious threat. Her writing career is a separate part of that professional picture; an acting credit does not by itself mean she wrote an episode.
Bullmore’s selected credits also include two contrasting period dramas, Gentleman Jack and Vienna Blood. Viewers who know her as Rachel Liebermann may also recognise fellow Ryeland Companion actors Matthew Beard and Conleth Hill from that series. That is a cast connection rather than a shared fictional universe. To explore her range, pair one comedy from the list with one longer dramatic role. It makes a more useful introduction than treating a list of guest appearances as a complete account of her work.

In the Susan Ryeland adaptations
In Marble Hall Murders, Bullmore plays Elaine Clover, part of the publishing world to which Susan returns. Elaine’s place beside Charles Clover makes professional relationships an important part of the modern storyline. She is not a second version of a character inside Pünd’s Last Case. The useful question when watching her scenes is how Susan’s experience as an editor affects the way she deals with the people around the book. Publishing is both Susan’s livelihood and the route by which the new mystery reaches her.
